One Journey Clinical Counselling
Melanie Jill Konynenberg
BMus, MC counselling psychology
Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #19883)
Penticton and Summerland BC, as well as virtual clinical counselling services in British Columbia
I hold a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from the University of Alberta and a master's degree in counselling psychology from Athabasca University.
I have been married for 24 years and I am a mom to one teen and two young adults.

I appreciate the beauty of nature, the power of music, and the companionship of dogs and other furry creatures. In my life, I have experienced both joy and pain, and have arrived at the other side with increased resilience and hope.

I have worked with children, youth, and adults as a registered clinical counsellor in community-based
and private practice clinics.
I have experience as a behavior interventionist in the autism intervention program with
Okanagan Similkameen Neurological Society (OSNS). Previously, I taught music in schools, along with private and group lessons in voice, piano, and musical theatre.
Therapy Approaches
I work in collaboration with clients to uncover strengths, abilities, resources, and meaning. I believe the experiencing of fulfillment and the discovery of purpose and hope can lead to increased wellness.
I prioritize the creation of a safe, warm, and empathic therapeutic relationship in which the client
is placed as the expert.

I work with solution-focused interventions, EMDR, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), and strength-based modalities.
I am trained in Gottman levels 1 and 2 couple's counselling and emotion-focused family therapy
core 1 and 2.

I have completed trauma-focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (TF-ACT) training
and Cognitive Behavioral skills training.

I am an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) trained therapist, with additional training
in chronic trauma.

Primary areas of therapy focus include trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationships, parenting, meaning and purpose, spirituality, and Christian faith.
